Reading Minster, also known as St Mary’s church, is Reading’s oldest church. It is a Grade 1 Listed Building of unquestionable historic and architectural importance.

How to get there:

Reading Minster is a 10-minute walk from Reading Station and is situated on local bus routes.

There is no parking available at the venue however the nearest town-centre car park is a 5-minute walk and the nearest blue-badge parking is available on St Mary’s Butts.

Opening times: Box Office and Doors:

Doors and our onsite box office will open 30 minutes before the performance starts.

If you are looking to purchase tickets on the door, do check our website for ticket availability before travelling.

Seating is unallocated on church pews.

We recommend that you bring a cushion for your own comfort.

Pre-show and interval refreshments:

The RABBLE Bar will be open before the show and during the interval; offering a selection of cold soft drinks, snacks and some wonderful organic wines and beers drinks can be taken into the auditorium. The bar will close 5 minutes before the start of the show.

Please do not bring your own food and drinks to the theatre, supporting the RABBLE Bar is another way you can directly support the theatre.

Special notes:

There is heating in the church, but the temperature can sometimes vary so we advise wearing layers for your comfort.

Please note that the Minster has limited toilet facilities, so we have portable toilets available and use of the Minster’s toilet if you require accessible facilities. Both are accessed from the outside, to the rear of the venue and our Front of House team will help direct you.

Relaxed Performances:

Relaxed Performances are open to everyone but especially designed to welcome anyone who would benefit from a more relaxed performance environment, including families with very young children, those with an autism spectrum condition, sensory and communication disorders, or learning disability.

The performances may be adapted in a number of ways in order to reduce anxiety and ensure a safe and enjoyable live theatre experience. There is a relaxed attitude to noise (voluntary and involuntary), sudden loud noises are softened and audience members are free to leave and re-enter the auditorium at any point. Check the booking pages for details, but usually, our Relaxed Performance is scheduled on the second Saturday matinee.

Familiarisation visits for those for whom new venues can cause anxiety are also available under arrangement by CONTACTING US.
