Known as “the Dog in the Case” on Platform 5 of Slough Rail Station, Station Jim arrived as a 3-week-old puppy at the station in the late 1890s. When Jim was big enough, he was fitted with a collection box and this friendly hound would wander the platforms of the station collecting donations for the Great Western Railway Widows and Orphans Fund. Jim was the star of the station and has been immortalised in his case ever since.
In a new piece of theatre, RABBLE brings Jim back to life and imagines the day he meets Queen Victoria, along with the community of Slough, this Spring. This promenade performance, developed in partnership with Slough creatives and community groups, will feature a newly commissioned puppet, brand-new songs and a chance to learn about this special hound and the equally special town he lived in.
Station Jim will arrive at Slough Rail Station this Spring! Keep your eyes peeled for performance dates!
