The Bulmershe Theatre is located within the Minghella Studios, the home of the Film, Theatre & Television Department of the University of Reading. The building is a bright, open and flexible collection of spaces that RABBLE Theatre has come to use on a regular basis.

How to get there

The Minghella Building is located within the WhiteKnights Campus of the University of Reading (Building 195) 

The entrance and exit to the Bulmershe Theatre is via the Box Office, located within the foyer of the Minghella Building. Our Front of House team will be on hand to direct you.

You will be asked for the name your tickets were booked under. You will only need to present your ticket order confirmation if there is a discrepancy.

You may have to queue for admission to the venue and then to the auditorium.

Travelling

Be sure to set aside more than enough time for your journey to the venue, it may not be possible to seat latecomers once the performance has started.

If possible, consider walking or cycling at least part of the way. Check your route if travelling by public transport.

  • Walk/Cycle: Bikes can be secured at the bike shelter adjacent to the Minghella Building.
  • Bus: Plan your journey with Reading Buses. Bus numbers 21/21a stop within the campus (UoR WhiteKnights) or the number 3 stops along Shinfield Road/Chancellors Way.
  • Rail: The Minghella building is approximately a 40-minute walk from Reading Train Station. Alternatively, you can use public transport from Bus Stop EK.
  • Car: If you are coming by car please use the following postcode in your sat nav for the Whiteknights Campus: RG6 6UR.
    Visitors are required to use Car Park 1a, a pay-and-display car park. This is on the left as you enter the University Campus from the Shinfield Road Entrance. The Minghella Building is then a 5-minute walk, clearly signposted on campus as Minghella Building 195. The nearest blue-badge parking is beside the Minghella Building, though it has limited blue-badge bays. It is possible to drop off near the building before parking.

Opening times: Box Office and Doors

Please check your order confirmation for performance start times.

Glitch matinee performances start at 2.30pm and evening performances start at 7.30pm

The venue will open to theatre ticket holders 1 hr before the performance starts.

Doors will open 15mins before the performance starts.

Tickets must be purchased in advance.

What should I bring?

Please keep your belongings to an absolute minimum and with you at all times. The Minghella does not have any cloakroom facilities.

Cashless

Please note that we are a cashless venue so all payments for programmes, refreshments and merchandise must be paid using a debit or credit card only.

Pre-show refreshments

The RABBLE Bar will be open before the show; offering a selection of cold soft drinks, snacks and some wonderful organic wines and beers.

Please do not bring your own food and drinks to the theatre, supporting the RABBLE Bar is another way you can directly support our theatre company. Transactions will be cashless and paperless.

Seating

Seating is unallocated. In exceptional circumstances you may be asked to change seats to accommodate an unforeseen request for accessible seating.

Please do not leave spaces, you may be asked for your cooperation in making space for audience members, please respect the instructions that our staff and volunteers give you regarding seating allocation.

Toilets

Toilets are located on the ground floor of the Minghella Building.

Photography & Video

Photography and video recording is not permitted in any of our venues, and please can we remind you to turn all phones and mobile devices off (not just silent) for the duration of all performances.

Accessibility

The Minghella is an accessible building for wheelchair users and those with mobility issues. If you require access please do contact us so that we can reserve a designated accessible space for you and seats for your party.

Disabled Toilets

The disabled toilet can be found on the ground floor. There are no stairs between the Box Office Area, performance space and the disabled toilets.
