Macbeth Workshops with RABBLE Theatre

Bringing Shakespeare to Life Through Blood, Betrayal, and Battle

Step inside the world of Shakespeare’s Macbeth like never before with RABBLE’s immersive, high-energy workshops. Designed for KS3–KS4 students, our workshops fuse performance, movement, and imagination to explore the play’s key themes of ambition -power, gender, violence, and the supernatural – in ways that are active, accessible, and unforgettable.

“The experience was amazing, we were always doing something fun, the actors were hilarious and the games were written well. There were no faults!”

Student, aged 11, Hornsby House Prep School

Led by professional actors from RABBLE Theatre and grounded in curriculum-linked content, each session gives students the chance to think, move and feel their way through the play.

What to Expect

From the moment students walk in, they’re thrown into Macbeth’s world through carefully designed games and exercises, including;

  • Lie to Me: A game of deception to explore body language and truth — just like in Macbeth’s court
  • Archetypes in Action: Students embody Warriors, Sovereigns, Tricksters and Carers to unpack Macbeth’s complex characters
  • Sword & Shield Game: A high-stakes physical challenge reveals how fear and chaos affect our decisions, just like on a battlefield
  • Hall of Fame: What happens to a man when everyone calls him a hero? We explore how praise can warp ambition and identity
  • Murder Thermometers: Students physically map their opinions — how likely is Macbeth to kill? How does that change as the story unfolds?

“Year 8 loved it. I was saying to one of the actors, they managed to engage some of our most disadvantaged students on Friday, it was a real pleasure to see. We really enjoyed the session – I appreciated how adaptable the team were. They really got to know the students and made the experience feel personal. It was a good range of activities and the level was well pitched”

Deep Dive into the Play

The workshop weaves key scenes and text-based work into the physical journey. From Banquo’s eerie encounter with the witches, to the charged arguments between Macbeth and Lady Macbeth.

Students will;

  • Speak and act Shakespeare’s lines
  • Explore iambic pentameter and punctuation as performance tools
  • Debate, dissect and redirect live performances by professional actors
  • Understand and experience Shakespeare’s rhythm in their own voices and bodies.

    Why It Works

    Shakespeare was never meant to be read silently. It was written to be performed. Our workshops unlock the emotional intensity, muscular language, and horror-film energy of Macbeth through physical theatre, collaborative storytelling and performance techniques used by professional actors.

    By the end of the session, students will have a visceral understanding of the play’s characters, conflicts and historical context. Plus, they’ll have a lot of fun getting there.

        “A terrific workshop: dynamic and focused. You got them all engaged & thinking as it really complemented our teaching. The perfect TIE workshop experience. Your professionalism, expertise, and all round through decency has been much appreciated.”
